I <3 New Farm

September 5th, 2009 Posted in Personal | No Comments »

Seriously I would have to say moving here has been one of the best decisions in my life…period. Now don’t get me wrong…I didn’t half mind Indro, lovely house, close to cinemas ect but at the same time there was the shitty real estate agents and the hassles of public transport. All I can say is that despite perhaps being less grand a place, being a unit and all, this place smokes like an addict that hasn’t had any for some time (ie…quite hard).

The location here is superb and I mean superb in every sense of the word. In fact…I don’t think I could fault that aspect what so ever besides maybe the slight bit of noise you can hear around. But I’ll take that if it means being 10min walk to work and like 5 minutes on bike, having the river and thus river walk at the end of the street, being a few hundred meters from shops, cafes, restaurants, New Farm Park and having a bus service that comes every 10 – 20 minutes. Like fully, it’s so refreshing to be able to ride a push bike into town on a completly flat trip in order to see a movie and get there in the same time, if not quicker, as it would take to get a bus. Fucking-A.

Coincidentally buying a bike last week was another good move .

Besides that I like having less people in the place and ultimately despite being smaller, in a sense it feels less cramped. Dunno why that is exactly but it’s probably small things like the fridge not being full every time I come home after buying something and the fact we have no furniture (besides a rather sex coffee table we got for $33 today). But no…love it. Only thing I might bitch about is the oven but that’s half just me blaming the tools since blaming the chef either means blaming myself or having a house mate bash me up.

So yeah…if anyone is left wondering I’m over the moon with the move.

More Sex Toys

May 17th, 2009 Posted in Movies, Music, Techy Stuff | 5 Comments »

Besides the vibrating electrical vagina here’s a few more sex toys I have accumulated over the past month.

  • Samsung Series 7 52″ LCD TV: Lovely little bitch this one. Bigger than I had originally intended but the price was good.
  • Onkyo TC-SR706 AV Receiver: Again I got a good price I feel on this one. I’m yet to accumulate the speakers but it’s a start. Only just plugged it in tonight and I still need to get at least one more HDMI cable so my existing DVD player hooks up alright.

So yes, with those devices my “controller” collection for downstairs is at 4 remotes and will have at least one extra once I add the PS3 in due course. I think one of the next purchases will be a Logitech Harmony One remote to consolidate those…but only after I let my bank account recover just a little bit. That and I need a second switch, the before mentioned PS3, some speakers + sub etc etc. Should keep me busy. PS3 and Speakers are the priority so I can make fuller use of the TV. Ohh and I want a home theater PC and when it comes out I may get the new iPhone too although at least that’s on a plan.

New Toys – A Story Of Economic Stimulus

March 8th, 2009 Posted in Music, Techy Stuff | 1 Comment »

Well nothing big but I’ve bought myself some new toys the past two weeks or so so I figured they are worth mentioning here. Thankfully they are all basically covered by that $900 K. Rudd payment.

  • Audio Technica ATH-A900 TI headphones. These are the crown jewel of my latest buy. Wonderful sounding headphones and I must say I’m really happy with them. Infact they have left me wanting to replace my Sennheisers.
  • Fioo F5 Amplifier – A small $18US amp I bought for the hell of it. Really just a toy to try but it may actually be useful for when I’m on the road. Ad like 4 by 4cm it’s pretty minuscule. That said, it’s usefulness is lessened by my…
  • Mini 3 audio amplifier – A more serious amplifier which I’ll be using for non portable listening in the office. At around $150AU it’s relatively cheap as far as amplifiers go and apparently is a very good amplifier for the money and can compete with more expensive ones when you disregard features like DAC’s and the like. I could have got it for a bit less as a DIY kit but for the extra $15 I figured I’d get it pre assembled as the amount of electrical products needed to actually perform the soldering would have offset any real price savings.
  • iPod LOD – Not a product as such but parts to build a line out. This is purely for the amp as it makes no sense to make use of the iPods amplifier if I have a better one. Thus I will build this myself (sice they are expensive to buy) and hopefully it’ll work out alright. Basically allows me to bypass some of the iPods audio chips.
  • Logitech Quick Cam 9000 – New webcam cos I’d like to use Skype and the like a bit and my previous cams are aweful. I love this baby but. May not get used massively but ultimatly something I’ve wanted for a while.
  • Logitech G9 – A second G9, this one for work as i don’t like my mice there. I know it’s weird to spend that much on a work mouse but I can take it back home any time I want too so it’s not a complete waste. I use the work comp 8 hours a day so it seems worth it.
  • Razer Goliathus Mousepad – For the G9 basically. A no brainer that a mouse pad is much much better than using the desk. I emplore anyone that uses the desk to try using a decent mat for just a few hours. At $20 a mat it’s not exactly expensive either and makes life MUCH better.

Yearly Update

March 1st, 2009 Posted in Personal | No Comments »

Starting off, thing’s have been a bit slow as of late so I haven’t had a huge amount to say really. Life goes on as normal. Soundwave last week was great and NIN was absolutly epic IMHO and it’s a shame to have heard two days prior that the band will be going on hiatus later in the year. With them and Janes addiction doing a tour of the states I really wish I could go over and see two or three shows but that’s about as likely as me brushing my teeth in the next thirty seconds.

Besides that works going well. Things are picking up and by Friday we will have a feature complete build that after some testing will be shown at a convention in the states. Pretty hard to believe I’m in a way shipping my first real product and theses only three developers working on it with an entire company focusing on that product atm. Interesting times anyway.

Besides that just looking for accomodation and a place to live so I can get out of here. Looking forward to that.
